NEXT LEVEL NAT TESTING

PoET System – Pushing blood screening forward

This is the future of NAT testing in blood screening. A fully automated instrument, sophisticated software and a series of NAT tests make up this powerful solution for blood screening laboratories. Out of the gate, the PoET system features highly sensitive NAT tests for HCV, HBV, HIV, HAV, B19V, HEV and WNV for seasonal testing. The PoET Instrument reaches a new level of integration and covers the entire workflow from sample pooling, to sample preparation and PCR testing on a single platform.

PoET Instrument
  • 9Fully integrated
  • 9Pooling on-board
  • 9Minimal hands-on time
  • 9Complete workflow in 3.5 hrs.
  • 9Up to 3072 samples per day with dedicated pooling instrument
  • 9No system liquid waste

Track gripper

  • The Track gripper is the robot arm that transports the 24well Extraction Plates and the PCR Plates between the worktable and the Extraction modules, Sealer and PCR cyclers.
  • It can move around freely on the backside of the Instrument.
  • The Track gripper moves independently from the Pipettor.
L

Pipettor

  • Movable pipetting arm with eight pipetting channels, which uses the air displacement principle.
  • The pipetting channels transfer the samples and reagents to their respective destination vessels.
  • Liquid handling can be monitored by liquid level detection and Total Aspiration And Dispense Monitoring (TADM).
  • The Pipettor moves independently from the Track gripper.
L

Worktable

  • The carriers equipped with samples, reagents and consumables are placed on the worktable for processing.
  • Simple loading process with software assistance and flashing load indicators on the loading tray.
  • The worktable includes a barcode reader, which records the barcodes of all samples, reagents and consumables upon loading.
L

Cycler

  • The PCR cyclers are responsible for target amplification and detection.
  • The PCR reactions of all PoET assays are carried out as one step real-time reverse transcription PCRs.
  • The cyclers are equipped to detect different colours of fluorescence light for each PCR.
  • The Track Gripper places the sealed PCR Plates on the loading position of the PCR cycler.
  • Upon completion of the PCR, the PCR Plate is returned to the worktable.
L

Sealer

  • The sealer of PoET Instrument works with PCR Plates and 24well Extraction Plates.
  • The plates are sealed with a transparent film by applying heat and pressure.
  • The PCR Plates are sealed before starting the PCR.
  • As part of the disposal process, the 24well Extraction Plates, which still contain liquids, are sealed to prevent spillages.
L

Extraction modules

  • PoET Instrument features two extraction modules (ExMo) each with three heating nests and two heads for mixing and magnetic beads separation.
  • The release and purification of the nucleic acids takes place in the extraction modules.
  • Each ExMo can process 24 nucleic acid extractions simultaneously
  • With the 24-tip extraction head, each extraction is carried out in perfect synchronicity

Calliope Software

  • 9Software guidance through sample loading and processing
  • 9Data presented in a simplified user interface
  • 9Barcode monitoring to reject incompatible or expired reagents
  • 9Tracking of all samples, reagents and instrument
